One brother from SA asked me what I felt and could only say sadness and helplessness, but deep inside I knew that even if it felt like that, we were actually not helpless. It may look like that, but the reality is different.
The creator of the universe, the omnipresent God was present as it was happening, and He was almighty to stop it, but He did not. The very present help in time of need was right there as those perpetrators opened fire on those unarmed people. To understand the whys and the hows may not be as straight forward as we may want it, but there is an answer in God.
A christian ministry that I knew in Kenya when growing up had a radio program called, “Christ is the answer”, and I always wondered what the question was for Christ to be the answer. As I have grown to appreciate the splendor/wonder of God’s ways, I have come to conclude that Christ is not just the answer to the questions in the normal way of answering, He is the One God has given as the reference point or plumb-line for all accurate interpretation;
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
He is the center of all things like the sun is the center of the solar system. His power is in His character which is Love. His arch enemy, the devil opposes everything that orients men and things to that center, and that is why the dear saints were attacked as they gathered to pray in the morning. What the gunmen did not realize, even as they killed the people is that their side had not won. What they did had been done before, to Christ Himself, and to many of His followers in different generations along history, and like it was written about those that crucified Him, we declare again:
“8 ..Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory..” (1Cor 2);
And like He said as He breathed His last, we join with other saints in one voice to say,
“Luke 23:34
Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.”
“60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.” (Acts 7);
…and just as the death of Jesus was followed by an explosion of the Christian faith…, the death of our brothers and sisters makes our resolve even stronger,” not to love our lives even unto death“…
I leave you with the following video to the ISIS which expresses the heart of the followers of Jesus in the face of persecution.
Love,
Patrick

Patrick, My heart weeps for Kenya, whose people I have prayed with, worshiped with and love. My heart also weeps for those who have suffered at the hands of Isis across the Middle East. Great hatred is being unleashed across the world. The people of the Cross, the Bride of Christ, is now the ‘most wanted’ by these forces of hate. But a Light shines in the darkness and the darkness cannot overcome it. Love already won and Love will continue its relentless march across humanity to bring all who are willing captive to the great Lover of our souls, Jesus Christ. There is no force in Hell that can match that Love. Thankyou for sharing this. With your permission I am going to share it on Bread for the Bride. Keep shining my brother.

Thank you Cheryl – your heart and love for the bride is evident in your writing and work. The Lord continually bless your labor of love. It’s interesting you say, “Love already won and Love will continue its relentless march across humanity to bring all who are willing captive to the great Lover of our souls, Jesus Christ.” I agree 100%.
A phrase, ‘Love revolution’ has been ringing in my mind lately and I am increasingly being persuaded that Love (and not weapons against each other) is the one that will conquer every human bondage if we allow Him.
Please feel free to share as led – I consider it an honor.

I want to share with you a recent post by my friend Patrick Maina in Nairobi, Kenya. The word he shares here and the moving video need to be heard and seen by all who seek to follow Christ. We deal on a daily basis with our own set of circumstances, but this post and video spell out the reality of our deepest identity. The apostle Paul said we are a people who ‘as dying, yet behold we live’. There are those who call us the people of the Cross, and so we are. But we are also the people of the Resurrection. Whether our lives are personally threatened or not, let us live out the Love that is stronger than any hatred and let us carry the Light of that unrelenting Love into every dark and evil place. Death has been swallowed up in victory. In Him is Life, and the Life is the (only) Light of mankind.

Patrick, I’m so glad to have found your blog through Cheryl’s re-post of Christ is the Answer! Your post and the video is stirring and Holy Spirit compelling to us, the People of the Cross. Marked by Love. May we be known by that Love as well, as the Daystar shines ever brighter in the darkness. Blessings to you, Patrick.
(P.S. on a side note, I have always loved this Chateau theme and nearly used it for my website. I’m pleased to enjoy it through your blog!)

Thank you Nancy for reading and commenting. I am glad you found the Holy Spirit stirring and compelling through the post. I have been stirred up as well through your work at Wellspring of Life and Ishsha’s Story – may the voice of the Shepherd always be heard in and through you.
Is it not interesting how God connects us to one another? – I have not met (in person) most of the people who read my blog and yet I feel so connected with them. I believe this as part of the way Christ is building His body.
(P.s. On the theme – maybe it was meant for me, ha, ha – on the other hand, had you used it, it’d have denied us the beautiful natural spring at yours. Anyway of the available ones, it most closely represented what was motivating me at that time, “going beyond the walls”..I am considering revising as my eyes open up to the more out there..)
